Eric Grunwedel

Tubi has acquired exclusive U.S. rights to supernatural thriller STX, Bed rest. Starring Melissa Barrera (On high, scream) film is written by Laurie Evans Taylor, who also makes her directorial debut.

After years of struggling to start a family, Julie Rivers (Barrera) is pregnant again and moves into a new house with her husband as they start over. After receiving a mandatory bed rest order, Julie begins to slowly unravel, suffering from the monotony and anxiety associated with the new restrictions. Soon, eerie ghostly experiences in the house begin to haunt Julie, stirring up her past demons and causing others to question her mental stability. Trapped and forced to confront her past and the supernatural, Julie fights to protect herself and her unborn child.

“Melissa is absolutely adorable… and we can’t wait for audiences to see her incredible portrayal of this isolated character who struggles with her grief while facing terrifying supernatural elements,” Adam Levinson, Tubi’s chief content officer, said in a statement.

“Tubi has been a great partner and we’re excited to collaborate again on a new, original film that will leave their audiences looking for spooky, supernatural twists and scares truly satisfied,” said David Spiegelman, President of Domestic Television and Digital Distribution for STXfilms .

Taylor recently finished the script for Final destination 6, which is currently in pre-production. She is also currently working on the script I’m Still Alive, starring and produced by Ben Affleck. Among her previous works are “Lucky Dog”, “Welcome Home” and others.
