The NFU hopes to see the Farm Bill 2023 address the lack of competition

The National Farmers Union wants the 2023 Farm Bill to address the lack of competition in the industry.

Communications director Ross Hettervig says NFU members are calling for a title that promotes competition in the market.

“For us, that means providing more transparency in the markets, rejecting some of the anti-competitive monopolistic practices that are taking place in many areas of the agricultural economy and providing a better basis for small and family farmers to maintain their businesses in function.” he says.

He says the NFU is hoping for a bipartisan farm bill process.
